Got the statement, now what?

Can anyone offer any advice on how to make sure my son gets the help now we have the statement?

We've finally received a SSEN, which says he should have 15 hours support plus 5 hours on School Action Plus. We haven't heard from the school or SENCO about what they're planning to do with this funding. I need to arrange a meeting - what should I be asking?

Any advice gratefully received....

Hi Evelyn
I am a Specialist Teacher in the Northwest: when you go to your meeting, ask if the school is planning to employ a TA to support your son or pay someone already on the staff. Depending on his needs, ask if the person has had any appropriate training or if they plan to pay for this and also if they have experience of SEN. Fifteen hours covers the mornings in school, which is Literacy and Numeracy. Ask if he will have targeted 1:1 support outside the classroom. Ideally you would want a Specialist Teacher to plan your child's targets and advise on suitable activities and also to review his progress every term. Good luck!
