I received a letter from my sons peadiatrician this morning regarding our last visit to him. One of Ds's main problems are GDD.
Im not sure of this part and was wondering if someonecan explain
'at a chronological age of 15months, has a developemental profile roughly 40%- 50% expected.'

also says he has ASD which no one has ever mentioned before. Im not suprised as I suspected it may be a possibility from reading posts on here etc but still a bit Shock iykwim

So at 15 months he is doing roughly half the things they would expect from a 15 month old.

I am shocked that they hadn't discussed the possiblity of asd before and that they just dumped it on you like that. Not good....no wonder you are shocked!

yes chronological age is his actual age and developmental age is prob about half that, so 8months ish. does this sound right?

with regards the asd, phone up and ask to speak in person to the pead who wrote it and ask what it means with regard your ds as they shouldn't just mention things like this in a letter.

Blimey, they just put it in a letter as an afterthought? Shock

agree with the others ladies, phone up and find out what on earth consultant meant - it would be very unusual to diagnose asd so early in this country, maybe there has been some mistake in the transcription....

Shock how awful to put it bluntly in a letter like that. You should have been told prior to tests what they were suspecting.

Sounds like a typo

Hi, agree with others-he is very young to be dx with ASD. Has the Paed. carried out any ASD assessments-ie ADOS. Has he been seen by a S&L Therapist/anyone else? Usually, to make a dx of ASD, the child is seen by several professionals.
Ring the Paed, and put your mind at rest. If, further down the road, he does have ASD you will get lots of support and useful advice on here.
