DD#1 has speech and motor skills issues and we have some concerns about her social skills too. She has just turned 6 and started in year 1 (oldest in year). We have a TAC meeting on Tuesday morning next week and I wondered if anyone had some good advice as to what we should expect from it, what not to put up with etc. As far as I know there will be an EdPsych, SENCO, old class teacher and new class teacher, SALT (someone who doesn't know her mind you!), and maybe OT? She is on the books of the local NHS SALT but has had none for over a year, is under review with the OT (who is very good) and our previous paed basically signed her off over a year ago as she seemed fine, but referred to the OT "to keep me quiet" where she subsequently scored very poorly on assessment for motor skills - I want a new paed involved at some point but no idea if/how to do this.
Is it unreasonable to expect them to find a way to get her some speech therapy with a real live therapist given the local NHS has pretty much given up seeing anyone and are having a "restructure" for over 12 months now. Will they be able to sort another paed to see her or perhaps the EP can make a diagnosis or rule out? I am suspicious she may have aspergers, though she ticks a lot of boxes for dyspraxia.
We only filled the CAF form in to jump through hoops really - I am considering looking for a statement for her if we don't get anything sorted for the speech therapy as right now no-one wants to take any responsibility for providing any for her. The rest of it needs working through as we don't know what exactly we are dealing with yet.
What happens after the TAC meeting?
