Trying to get a book for DH to help him understand DS and his condition a bit more - there seem to be so many that I wondered if anyone had a personal recommendation?

The one I found best for DH was Autism for Dummies, since it's written very much in the style of a technical manual - he needed that direct, choppy approach in order to be able to follow it without his eyes glazing over.

I think it should probably be renamed Autism for Dads of Kids on the Spectrum: The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree.

I agree, Understanding Autism for Dummies is a great book and one of its writers is Temple Grandin who is autistic herself (and a fascinating woman, you can see her talks on youtube etc).

LOL at ouryve Grin
I have recently read "10 things every child with autism wishes you knew" it was recommended to me by someone on here. It's a good book written by a parent. She is knowledgable and it's easy to read.

Now 10 things might just be something that's worth passing onto DS1's teacher. She's already made up her mind that he's a naughty boy, but you never know.

I've just started reading a real boy picked it up in a charity shop.
Will let you know if its any good.
