ADHD?

Hi all

Went to see my GP yesterday about DS1's behaviour and he has referred us to a consulatnt paed. I had gathered lots of examples of his behaviour and he said he thought it sounded like ADHD not ASD.

My son is wet at night (5.1yrs), has not slept a full night since he was born, seems to have no social imagination and asks 'what shall I do next?' all the time. He won't and never has played alone even if I start him off and say I am going to put the washing out or something. He is aggressive towards his sister and she doesn't want to bring friends home because he won't leave them alone and is very physical with her and friend.

When we were on holiday he needed constant (and I mean constant) attention and we started to see repetative behaviour/language and he couldn't be distracted.

He shouts, gets too close to people and I couldn't take him to a shopping centre because he would be off making mischief.

He doesn't do this all the time and when he is with me alone he is the sweetest boy (although demanding) and we can sit and read and play.

As a baby he breasfed constantly and it was a standing joke I was always on the sofa when anyone came round.

What do you think??? Confused

Not sure GP was 'diagnosing'... sounds like more making the clear point that he believes Shugalips about there being something worth looking into and that there are various underlying possibilities.

IME there is so much co-morbidity and so much symptom overlap between the various non-NT conditions, that choosing between them can be quite hard even for the consultants.

My GP is very nice and I took his comments to be helful but I take your point Starlight because now I have been sent off into a bit of a spin.

Mariagoretti - what is non-NT problem and do you mean there is co-morbidity between the symptoms I am describing?

It is worrying but his behaviour is a lot worse at home, so I don't have the worry of 'what is he up to at school?' I can kind of manage because he is only 5 but I worry about the future as he is too big to carry and remove from situations.
