What does your child do with a carer?

Apart from sniff them Grin which i'm sure ds2 will do?

I've received a call today to say ds2 has been allocated funding for a carer to take him out once a week.
Idea being ds2 (nearly 8) gets to go out without us as he still has huge seperation anxiety issues that have become much worse of the last 6 months to the point were other than going to school he cannot be apart from us and is becoming so contolling we cannot leave the room without him... so we are trying to push him a little before it gets any worse.
Anyway, we have this funding but I don't know what they should do with him, he is not interested in anything Sad he just wants to sit wrapped in a blanket.
What do your dc do? I'm desperately in need of some inspiration. Thanks.

Could it be simple everyday things?

A walk to the shops to buy a loaf of bread

A ride on the bus

Walk to the park

That sort of thing?

It could be although he'd think i really hated him if i made him go to the shops, but I suppose they could just go to the beach or the park.
I really hadn't thought about the simple things, thank you.
I guess i'd like him to do an activity, with the winter coming up it may be better to get a routine going that they can do whatever the weather iykwim.

Would he go to the cinema?

A first while he gets used to the person if he wants to stay in wrapped in a blanket maybe you could go out? Just for a short time, that way he is in a familiar place doing what he likes to do but with a different person. Just a thoughtSmile.

My ds goes out to soft play sometimes with carer (this is good as taking him to soft play is mega stressful for me, even though ds loves it).

How many hours will your DS2 have the carer for?

My DS2 goes to a carer once a week during the school holidays and to start with they just stayed at her house until they were used to each other which progressed into walks/park then soft play and she now takes him swimming.

I'm guessing he'll get about 2 or 3 hours per week.
We are very rural so its an hours drive to get anywhere big with cinemas etc, there is a litle one a couple of miles away so sometime they ahve family films on... thats an idea.

Yeh i suppose we will have to take it slowly, maybe it may be worth us going out at first although there is always that balance between letting him get used to something new and allowing him to develop a very set routine around a new situation.
Ideally I'd like them to go out from day 1 as otherwise he'll be kicking me out of the door every week & he reallys truggles with going out anyway.
I really want this to work, to expand his world IYKWIM.

Thanks for your ideas
