Would like to add my protest by walking over here! Grin

Starlight - please video it....please!

niminypiminy · 13/09/2010 18:37

hey can I join in and tell you something really nice?

DS1 was on the rainbow at school today (translates as being super good, it's ok if you're on the sun, very bad news if you're on the cloud, loads of Primaries use it).

He's been longing to go on the rainbow since he started school two years ago, and today made it, and spent all day there!

I'm so, so happy for him Grin because school has been such a struggle Sad for most of the time.

5inthebed · 13/09/2010 18:41

Ooo good luck with that hearing test!

DS2 had a hearing test where they tried to keep his attention by rolling a ball through a spring but then making a sound and flash lights either side. Of course he preferred the flashing lights, so the test was non conclusive.

What horrible thread are you hidding from?

2shoes · 13/09/2010 18:41

aww that is nice,
glad he got on it at last.

starlight please post about the hearing test

Yeah ! niminypiminy's ds1. What a good start to the term Smile

niminypiminy · 13/09/2010 18:47

Starlight good luck with that hearing test -- still remember the time I had trying to get DS1 to wear those huge earphones and then have squeaky noises in his ear, that was a laugh. But they did use toys, he had to put a wooden peg into a peg board, so that was alright then Wink.

Mind you curing glue ear isn't all good news. When DS1 got his grommets the change was amazing, he simply stopped sleeping because all the noises he could suddenly hear kept him awake. You can't win, can you?

ouryve · 13/09/2010 19:01

Eek! I'm trying to imagine doing the same tests with DS2. They didn't get far performing the more basic hearing tests on him. I had the technician/nurse/whoever it was pleading with me to hold him still. I was trying my hardest, but the boy's all wriggle and hypermobile so it's like holding onto silly putty!

Then DS1 went and set off the alarm in the room. Well, they will go make these things accessible to wheelchair users - and my kids!

Good luck with that, anyway, starlight!

Starlight when they tested dd1's hearing as a toddler they used a test that didn't need her to press any buttons, they found out she'd gone deaf through constant ear infections and needed grommits.

Lougle · 13/09/2010 19:12

With DD1 they used a little boat with holes for the little people. She had to put a little person in a hole each time she heard a noise. The report says 'testing is incomplete as DD1 lost interest...' Grin

imawigglyworm · 13/09/2010 20:28

DS3's last test (was one without headphones) we were in a sound proof room and he kept grinding his teeth- it was awful, but funny seeing everyone cringe EVERY time he done it.
Hes due his next one end of Oct cant wait to see what he will be like then.

fightingthela · 13/09/2010 21:34

Ds saw paed the other day and was asked "what do you think you will be when you're 18?"
Answer from ds - "18"
Ask a silly question Smile

niminypiminy · 13/09/2010 21:35

Yeah he has a great sense of humour - he can be really funny without realising it. Like the time when a (flat-chested) friend came round wearing a top similar to one I had. He said to her " my mummy's got a top like that but her's has got boobies in it" Blush

DS had also hearing test last year it was.
Similar thing than Lougle's dd, he had to put the little people in the boat each time he heard a noise.
He did very well, all the people sorted by their colours. Grin
