Ok. so the wobble cushion arrived today do I just leave it lying around in the hope that Dd3 will sit on it or should I explain to her what it's for. Have never used anything like this before so any suggestions would be great.
Will read them in the morning though because have been on the go all day, Dd2 and Dd3 were singing in a concert tody and had to get train at 8 clock this morning. Great concertGrin but we are all knackered.

How old is DD3? My DS uses his move n sit cushion in the classroom (the teacher really appreciates it) and at home when he is doing his homework.

Apart from that he never actually sits down :)

I bought one of these for my ds' 8th birthday yesterday, after seeing it here!

He loves it, and mostly just stands and balances on it. Whe playing video games, he puts his feet on the cushion and in that way satisfies his need to keep moving.

He also loves feeling the bumps on the surface!

She is nearly 8, and no she dosen't sit a lot, more lolops, lies, fidgets, wriggles etc. But does sit to watch Tracy Beaker, usually at the computer. I was thinking about using it at the dinner table eventually, but does she needs to get used to it first?

:)
we just said to ds it's for sitting on or under feet or how ever he fancied using it.

He sits on it for dinner and computer ( he just takes it round with him lol).. But he sits on the really spikey side.. Rather than just the bump " because the bumps aren't spikey enough".

He rocks his feet on it when playing on the xbox. He also rubs his feet and hands on it.

Basically barring giving a few hints.. I just left him to it.

Hope it is as good in your house as it is in ours :)

Well I left it out last night and she is quite interested, she has blown it up and sat on it for a short time so there's hope she might become attached to it. LOL not literallyGrin, although OH said if it will help her sit still can we velcro her to it.Smile

Omg.. Dd3 went very quiet so peeped round the living room door and there she was sitting on the wobble cushion STILL [that is not moving] apart from gently swaying , obviously to balance.
I am impressed.
Ok i will shut up now but after a crap week it was excitingGrin. How sad am I!!

That's lovely, it's still so new to my ds too, every so often he approaches the cushion and I can see he's still sizing it up.

TheArsenicCupCake · 12/09/2010 11:28

:o I'm so glad she likes it :)

and your not sad.. It was like a cool breeze through the house when ds2 started using his!

( I now need to order two more.. Because my other two dc's ( nt) love the cushion so much and have been trying to pinch it :).. It'll be easier to have a few about!)

Ineed2 · 12/09/2010 11:39

Yeah TACC Dd2 has already taken quite a liking to it and she's only just emerged from her bedroom.
My sister's a physio so although she's often not supportive[has many other issues] she might be able to get me another one. Fingers crossed.Smile
Also Dd3 has just sat on it at the table, I can't believe how something so simple can make such a difference. She actually sat on the chair.
I need to read your other threads about wobble cusions cos I don't really understand how it can work.

as far as I know... The fidgeting seems to be sensory seeking..( certainly in ds2 case.. He was regularly in weird twisted and upside down positions as well as constantly flapping about).

So the cushion work for him because he has to correct himself on it the whole time.. Plus the spikes add to sensory input... Giving him what he is seeking.. But in a more controlled way.. And allows him to sit still and concentrate on the task at hand ( I.e at the dinner table).. It's also good for his poor core stability... Further than that I only know it works for ds :)

what I have done is if we go to someone elses house for dinner.. ( having had a natter with the host first).. And we don't have the cushion with is ( not always practical).. I now tell him to sit on his feet.. Rather than tell him constantly to sit on his bottom!.. As he was already using his own stratagies by sitting on his feet and I was telling him off!
