DD is a massive fan of In The Night Garden.

She likes to go and visit the Iggle Piggle ride-on in the shopping centre and gives him a big kiss and cuddle. Smile

So ..we are going to see In the Night Garden live today as an early birthday treat. It has cost £100 altogether!

However, she doesn't like crowds and it will be busy and noisy. She also won't sit still for more than a minute. We are at the front so she might want to go and kiss Iggle Piggle!

But it will be so lovely if she enjoys it!

Just think we will end up with yelling DD and lots of cats bum faces from all the mums around with kids sitting quietly and rapt.

We are mad aren't we?

Smile

We took dds to see this a couple of weeks ago.

It is really good. Very loud though - the music etc is a bit over the top.

Don't worry about her wriggling about. The seating is a series of low wide steps, so get there early (as early as you think she can cope with) and stake out a good patch.

Really don't worry about her making a noise. It is full of pre-schoolers, lots of babies - noise was the order of the day, from excited squeals to horrified cries of terror!

I hope you have a fab day, dd2 loved it when we went, and I thought that dd1 hadn't really been that thrilled, but then at bedtime (they share a room) she was completely joining in the re-telling of it all.

Don't be tempted to buy a t shirt, BTW, the transfers are already peeling off ours!

silverfrog · 11/09/2010 08:05

When are you off? I could hung some pics on FB quickly, or email them, if you think they could be useful (either to acclimatise your dd, or for info for you?)

Just going to jump in the shower, but can do easily.after that.

cansu · 11/09/2010 08:05

Fanjo - i hope it will be great. Know what you mean about noise / crowds. Fingers crossed for you. my dd also loves night garden etc. I am toying with idea of taking her to a show at Christmas. I'm sure your dd will love it. Sounds fab.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2010 08:08

Thanks silverfrog!

We are going in about 90 mins!

I don't have CAT though to send my email address and don't want to post it on here. Do you have it?

Will bear that in mind about the t-shirt!

We have paid extra for premium seats in first four rows as i didn't think she'd concentrate if she was further back!

cansu - thanks, will ket you know how it goes Smile

Have just sent/am sending (sorry, phone is a bit slow with the bigger files...) some over.

If possible, take jumpers/something soft to sit on - boy did I ache when I got up again (might have had something to do with having 2 girls leaping all over me, but even so, the concrete ain't kind to your bum!)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2010 09:13

Thanks, I will, I have a sore tailbone anyway so that info is REALLY helpful!

Oh no!

On the plus side, things can only improve Smile

woolytree · 11/09/2010 17:16

How was it?

We took DD to see Nemo on ice when she was 3....she lasted 15mins. Enjoyed running round the entrance untill DH and GD appeared at interval.

Still Im considering Disney on Ice this year now shes nearly 5 and Mickey/Pixar obsessed.

Hope you had a great time.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2010 19:54

It was great, DD sat saucer eyed and rapt throughout, and this is a child with a 1 minute attention span!

She then giggled at Iggle Piggle all the way home.

The train journey really spoilt the day though, after I posted that another woman had a go at us, and others were making comments, we had really tried everywhere with the buggy and it just wouldn't fit anywhere, and DH had DD squashed on his knee to save a seat.

In the end I wrote on DDs travel scribbler "sorry, the buggy will not fit in luggage rack"..then the people glaring at us stopped. Grin

Good thinking Batman!!! :)

I had horrid staring people today too....other thread. Not a good day for me so glad to hear some happy news! Cheered me right up!

....I may just hint at grandparents for tickets to Disney on ice then! Grin

5inthebed · 11/09/2010 20:25

Glad it went well. I hate packed train journeys, some people are just plain rude. Glad it didn't spoil the whole thing for you all though.

I am sightly Envy that you got to go. ITNG roadshow isn't coming anywhere near us and DS2 would love it!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2010 20:28

I told the woman that a) she was welcome to try to fit the buggy in the luggage rack if she wanted, as we had tried and it couldn't fit, then I said "don't take your frustrations with the train out on us!" Blush (after I had explained nicely and apologised and she kept ranting at me).

I am getting more assertive Grin

I heard it will be going to more places, so I hope it comes near you!!

OP posts:
5inthebed · 11/09/2010 20:32

hehehe I need your assertiveness! Is your Dd in a normal pram or a mac major?

My sister rocks at assertiveness ATM when it comes to DS2. She is 35 weeks pregnant and a force to be reckoned with. I actually felt sorry for the bus driver last week when he dared tell her he needed to sit still.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2010 20:41

It's just from work really, am used to dealing with stroppy people Smile

DD just has a Maclaren XLR, we don't use it that much though.

OP posts:
silverfrog · 11/09/2010 21:58

Oh, I am glad your dd enjoyed it - dd2 was saucer-eyed throughout too Grin (and she wore her new dress to go and see Iggle Piggle - methinks she has a crush Grin Grin)

Angry about silly people on the train though - well done on speaking up, i probably wouldn't have, but would have sat there feeling awful.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2010 09:01

it was so sweet on the train home, she kept looking at her new Iggle Piggle and making him dance, then giggling, at one point she said "Makka Pakka".

I just heard it might be coming to Edinburgh now, will have to go and see the Makka Pakka show, we saw the other one yesterday!

OP posts:
willowthecat · 12/09/2010 09:16

You need to move city - I do find that 'Edinburgh people' are very rude. (not you obviously)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 12/09/2010 09:17

Yes, the train going back the other way was full of laid back Glaswegians Grin (mind you it was quite late so quite a few had had quite a few!)
