Even by ds1's standards this is ridiculous

I have just begun to realise how much ds1 remember via google maps.

He was wandering around a city on google street scene that he doesn't know very well (been there 5 times maybe?) and I realised he was near my aunts house (been there 3 times maybe once as a baby). We haven't seen my aunt for years for various reasons. I think he last went to her house in 2003, maybe 2004. He must have been 3, 4 at most.

Anyway I said to him 'can you find auntie X's house'? He went straight there and pointed to it.

round the bend = he has found the house he wants to live in on google maps. It has a birds eye view of a road bridge, a train bridge and pay booths (with the little barriers that go up and down). He navigated there, pointed to the house, then to himself then signed 'sleep' and said 'nun nigh'.

He'd probably be ready to move in with you as well if you're near a train track.

oh, that's made me Grin, saintly - how lovely

lol. Well his second choice is a house right next to school. He has been banging on about moving there since google maps was released in this area. The garden looks into the school grounds!

ds words are not really words more noises except for the word fart he was once refered to as mr farty pants. And yes in my mimnaly verbal son ge signs I then says fart which is even clearer than unme(mummy)

You know, it's interesting, when ds1 was showing more signs of being on the spectrum he was incredibly good at remembering how to get to places and figuring out new routes based on something someone said, etc. We had started to jokingly refer to him as the human GPS. Then a few months ago (a short while after his stimming, etc. rapidly abated) I asked him something about directions. He then said, "You know Mommy, I don't really do the human GPS thing anymore. I guess I just am doing other things now and don't focus on directions as much." Shock

That sounds a but like perfect pitch jabberwocky. In common with many autistic kids ds1 has a very good ear. He was singing in tune at 18 months and can hear something and sing it back perfectly after one hearing (if he wants to, never on demand).

Apparently if speech develops that particular skill often disappears.

Have been thinking of how one could put that on a future CV - there MUST be a well-paid job of some kind that would require exactly the sat-nav skills
