Bleeding ridiculous prescription quotas

Just tried to pick up DS1's Strattera from the Chemist and they've been told by the supplier that they'd exceeded their quota of that drug for this month, so weren't allowed to supply anymore. AngryAngryAngry

Living in the middle of nowhere and not driving, it's not like I can just try the one down the road. All the local villages have the same Chemist chain and are subject to the same ridiculous quotas. We have enough to last him until Sunday. I put the order for a repeat prescription in when he's halfway through a pack, as it is.

Thankfully, after some fuming and phone calls, I found a chemist that actually has some in stock (rare - it usually has to be ordered) and is open late tonight so that DH can take the prescription there and pick some up after tea, so I don't have to take up half my day and spend a fortune on busfair.

I did get an address to write to because it seems this is a common problem with certain drugs.

Right. Now I have that all sorted and off my chest, I have an appointment with a cup of tea and a hot bath.

There is a notice up in the shop saying that in some cases it's lack of supply from the manufacturer (had that before with something - couldn't get it anywhere) and in others there's quotas set by the manufactuer and even the NHS. This is the latter and the pharmacist I spoke to at the other pharmacy knew all about the problem.

And I remembered the bathroom needed a good scrub - perfect for taking out some pent up anger. I had a lovely bath, in the end, though, even if it did smell somewhat of vinegar! I also got the makings of a grumpy letter planned out in my head while I was soaking.

could you ask your doc for a double prescription each time?
I had to do that as I was spending hours in the chemist

We're getting repeats form our GP at the moment, but DS1 does see the CAMHS Psych again in a week to review his dose. I am hoping that once his dose has been finalised (he's still on the bare minimum and IMO needs a bit more) we can get prescriptions which last longer, since it's not like it's restricted on the grounds of being a narcotic like ritalin/equasym etc.
