After a year of other parents accepting DD at last,a new bunch have started, DD got her first stare and snippy comment today when she lurched into someone.

The new parents were using the names on the pegs to teach their kids to read, I am not optimistic they will appreciate a child with SN in the class.

Its tough isnt it fanjo, DD started yesterday and only a few mums know she is ASD. While waiting to pick them up yesterday a mum was making comments about police being called as an 8 year old boy had 'escaped'...she jumped in very quickly to snipe he must be autistic...Im not sure if she meant to sound offensive and was unaware of my DDs recent dx. :(

One mum however has been very nice and is asking about dd....she does say lots of 'well ALL kids do that'..comments but im sure she is trying to reassure rather than offend.

I already asked DP if she should be in a school with more SN kids....I think Id better give it more than one day! Grin

it does get easier, the parents from last year are much more understanding now,so stick it out. DD's SN are quite obvious but it still takes a while for parents to realise, until then they think i'm the worst mum ever!

It tends to be the parents though (assorted cattle that they are) - other children are much more open to not everybody being or acting the same, I find

In the same boat - the newbie ma's and pa's all think I'm the world's worst mother and what is worse I'm a teacher Yes me - the mother of the world's naughtiest boy forms the hearts and minds of the next generation....

I ain't justifying my ds to anyone. Screw it.

It's my DS' birthday on Monday and so I have sent him in with 2 dozen home made cupcakes with dinosaur sprinkles on. They looked the dog's danglies, I must say. So - I'm not sure they'll top that - let's hope they don't get an inferiority complex about it Shock

I wouldn't want them to feel bad heh heh heh he hehe hee
(and a big thanks for the torrents of birthday party invites we don't get.....

Sorry - trying not to sound too bitter....

I agree with sc - children are always much more tollerant and tend not to judge.

i'm a lot more thick skinned than last year, don't care nearly as much what they think!
