My ds1 (asd)says horrible things when things don't go his way.

This morning I told him he couldn't take his jumper to school because it's really hot at the moment and he'll not take it off no matter what. Then I got the following shouted at me:-

I'm going to kill you
I'm going to pull your eyeballs out
I'm going to burn you.(looks terrible written down Sad).

There are lots of other phrases along this vein.We never let him see anything violent and are careful with the kind of language we use in front of him I don't know where he gets his imagination from.

Last week he hit DH for the first time too.I am scared how much this will escalate in the future.

Does anyone else have experience of this? How do you handle it?

He is nearly 7.

My ds also nearly 7 and asd says some terrible things too. Like your son, it's almost always when things don't go his own way. He becomes very violent, swears and threatens to kill us. His SALT has said she will try to do some work with him on this, not sure yet what as we've only had the initial assessment, but maybe you could ask your SALT for some coping strategies too? We've also been referred to CAMHS for help in dealing with his behaviour.

I hope you get some help soon :)

hiya :)

i dunno what help i can be but i sympathise Sad my ds is like that, but he has hit my quite a few times and hit dh 2days ago for the first time, but he has punched/slapped/kicked/pinched/pushed and pulled me, and cut me with a steak knife while i slept Sad apparently he had came into my room while i was asleep and he was on our bed (he sneaks about and im a heavy sleeper not a good mix Sad ) anyhoo he said i put my arm over him (must have thought it was dp who was on early shift) and he didnt like it so went and got a knife and came back and cut my arm, he could have easily killed me, so needless to say i dont sleep much now Sad but all the knifes are locked away in our filing cabinet too, but im sure he will find something else Sad

oh and my ds is 5 1/2 and being tested for adhd xx

frazzledazzle · 03/09/2010 13:31

That sounds awful Mummyo3.My dh is worried about knives as ds often talks about knives but at the moment ds seems all talk no action. He has pinched me before but only gently and has rammed and pushed me.
He has 'hit' me but it is more like a tap than a slap atm.

We have got a referral to CAMHS too sexy I don't know how much use they'll be but anything is worth a try.

frazzledazzle - id say be safe and make sure they are locked away as my ds never made any threats just done it, when he was 3 he got out of his room climbed over the baby gate, i was preg with dd2 and i awoke to a devil knife at my head and one at my stomach Sad but have since moved house and had a lock on the living room door and kitchen door (as the livingroom leads to the kitchen and is safe in a fire) but he can get access now, everytime we found a way to stop him he finds a new way to get in, we also found 2 butter knifes hid in his room Sad
