He likes the time table and the following the rules stamps for each lesson..( he got all his stamps :))
Used ds1 ( year11) a bit during lunch ( which annoyed ds1 .. School has always been a bit of a respite area for him.. )
didn't go to the toilet all day, but coped..( will be having a chat with school generally. Tomorrow so will mention this).
followed the teachers directions a bit too litterally.
But basically came home okay :)

fingers crossed for tomorrow!

He remembered to use his traffic light system ( for emotions) when he got back in and bounced a lot.

My dd did Ok just didn't get of the bus stop that we had agreed I would collect her from. I followed the bus in the car until she got off......

Ineed2 · 02/09/2010 22:40

Wow well done your Ds, Starting secondary school is a terrifying time, it sounds like he did really well. What is it about not using the loo though my Dd's rarely go to the loo at school, I am sure it can't be good for them.
Hope tomorrow goes well too.

wasuup3000 · 02/09/2010 22:46

Yes well done to your DS as well!! Heres me waffling on...

TheArsenicCupCake · 02/09/2010 22:46

:) wassup .. That's brilliant though!

oh we have a whole issue going on with wee ( pretty sure it's a sensory thing.. He's dry.. But we have smell and tactile issues.. but ds1 (NT) refuses to use school toilets.. He goes out to the public toilets at lunch.. Because schools are ' grunt grunt minging'

wasuup3000 · 02/09/2010 22:51

:) ds1 got caught leaving school premises last year.. When questioned by a teacher he just replied ' well would you use the toilets?, you can wait here and I'll be back in 5 mins '
the teacher actually agreed with him lol

We have smell issues to with Dd3, she complained really loudly in sainsury's loos the other day because they had put lily's in there ?? whats that all about. She said God what's that horrible smell, at the top of her voice and yes there was a queue. Bless her I said at least it doesn't smell dirty, sometimes you just can't win.
Dd2 won't go at school " cos there like mingin" too.

TheArsenicCupCake · 02/09/2010 22:58

That's a brilliant idea pixie.. I'll suggest that to SENCO tomorrow :)

:) at the loud comments.. I think loud comment are pretty ace really.. You know ds2 gets to say exactly what he's thinking.. he has generally learnt to add a ' not being offensive' before he says things though.. Which sometimes works :)

OP posts:
Ineed2 · 02/09/2010 23:05

LOL at "not being offensive" Dd3 couldn't care less if she is being offensive, it was funny in the loo though and one lady in the queue was laffing to.

TheArsenicCupCake · 02/09/2010 23:12

It's just a thing he's learnt.. He doesn't actually get it tbh, but he uses it as a fail safe.

' not being offfensive.. But your really bald'
' not being offensive.. But that lady really smells'

I'm going to try it out one day and say exactly what is in my head :o

It is funny most of the time but sometimes I do look for a hole to crawl into.
I have been known to say what's in my head but have not found it very helpful in my adult life.Grin

glad went ok secondry school is scarey for any dc

sc13 · 03/09/2010 12:01

That's what we like to hear! And school toilets tend to be disgusting - I don't think I ever used them throughout secondary school (had a stronger bladder then)

siblingrivalry · 03/09/2010 12:13

I'm so pleased for you and your ds that it went well x

TheArsenicCupCake · 03/09/2010 12:44

:) thank you.

This morning he was going over his time table so he knew what he had and when.. He seems to be memorising the days.. Before he went in he knew what lesson, when and what room.

Just got to see how he coped at lunch and if he used ds1 and mayes again.. This is going to be a sticking point for ds1 if it continues.

OP posts:
CrunchyFrog · 03/09/2010 13:26

Well done him, sounds like he coped really well!

Ineed2 · 03/09/2010 14:29

My dd likes to memorise the timetable, I am sure that is part of the reason she finds September so hard because she doesn't yet know the timetable.
I get what you are saying about Ds1 too Dd2 would be mortified if that happened to her, luckily I have really big gaps so its not an issue.
Lets hope your Ds1 can put up with it for a bit while your Ds2 settles in. Maybe you could appeal to his nicer side Grin maybe some cinema tickets or a pizza would help. I have always found bribery positive rienforcement works wonders with teens.

TheArsenicCupCake · 03/09/2010 14:33

Cinema tickets sound just the job !
I can see ds1's point though tbh as he just won't get a break from ds2 at all until he finishes school ( may/ June time).
Go a meeting up a the school on monday so will see if I can get that sorted out for him then as well.

:)

OP posts:
Ineed2 · 03/09/2010 14:36

I hope you get sorted, it sounds promising if the school are helpful too Smile

TheArsenicCupCake · 03/09/2010 19:56

Well quick update.. Second day is done.. Ds2 left ds1 alone.. But didn't use his buddies or the library si was on his own today at lunch.. But he says he didn't mind as he likes it that way.

Ds1 has one of the same teachers as ds2 the lesson straight after.. He got collared at the end of the lesson by said teacher who asked lots of questions.. And informed ds1 that her whole lesson plan with ds2s lesson went wayward because ds2 didn't stop talking .. Even with gentle hints. ( when she said." I think we've covered that topic".. He just started a new one! :o and apparently he changes subject really fast to things completely unrelated!).. Ds1 told her to tell ds2 to " stop talking" and to keep it short and direct with ds2.. and told her all about ds2 and some of the things he does.
Bless her she is going off to read up and she is going to keep it short and to the point for him.!

So barring the fact that we have had to use both yellow and red cards tonight.. We've had a lot of spinning and flapping..
All is going well:)
( just thought you'd like the above story lol)

daisy5678 · 04/09/2010 10:54

So glad it went well! Dreading secondary for J but you've given me hope!

Ineed2 · 04/09/2010 21:27

Thats fab news TACC, sorry didn't reply last night but had to go to a wedding reception, Yuk!
Your Ds1 was very mature to explain to the teacher, lets hope it inspires her to do some reading.
LOL at your Ds2 changing subjects, its amazing how fast their brains can work isn't it.
Just out of interest how do you use your red and yellow cards.
I have been using them over the summer with some success with Dd3 to give a visual reminder that her behaviour is unacceptable.
