One of those moments

Went to my ds's first proper multi-disc assessment yesterday (before the CDT meeting later in the month)and just found it really difficult.

Found myself being competitive mum and wanting to show off all the things he can do except everything they asked about, he can't yet do. Found the whole thing really depressing and had one of those moments where I despair for the future and don't really want to do it - which then obviously made me feel even worse.

Do these meetings have this effect on anyone else or should I just pull myself together and get on?

I think if you didn't get down about it then you wouldn't be fab mother you clearly are.

Filling in the DLA form is also a dispiriting affair.

I always always manage to hold it together until we get in the car and then I drive away sobbing.

Take as much time as you need to get your head round it.

I hate meetings too, but by focusing on what your DS cant do, it does help them build better support for him (hopefully).

I remember doing what you did at a pead appointment once. Went in singing DS's praises and she started to go on about how she might have got the DX wrong. That showed me!

Now I always try and get a balance, but its so hard and it can be draining.
