Ds can't start school next week finally got hold of wcs his headrest not in yet will be at least 2 more weeks

So as ge needs help getting into car/car seat was told had to travel in wheelchair but no headrest means not safe to travel which I do agree with

But sobs was gearing myself up for next week and looking forward to a break more sobs

It saddens me that it's deemed OK for a child to miss 2 weeks of school because of something like this. Surely they knew earlier in the summer?? Angry for you :(

It's because it's on order from wcs was ordered start of July it's not even a fancy one

Though if can find carseat in time he might be able to go driver said he's willing to help ds into car seat said bugger it will lift him if needs though he should mange with bit of a boost

As he said lifts own kids in and ds is smaller and lighter than them ds. Is 1m and 15 kg so not heavy

Wow, that long for a simple bit of kit? I wouldn't want to be waiting for something more complicated! Glad your taxi driver is being slightly helpful though :)

Is transport written into your ds' statement? (being overly optimistic that might help...or not)

roundthebend4 · 01/09/2010 06:28

No it's not Herts don't write it in when it's unit or sn school especially if nearest suitable one which ds is not nearest unit but even Lea agreed one he is to attend is only suitable

It's not really transports fault it's wcs who been so slow

Well, getting it written in is the best way to make sure it happens.

It is down to the LEA rather than wcs: the LEA have the responsibility for providing transport (or would if it was written into the statement), and wcs are really doing the LEA a favour by providing a headrest on a chair that your ds doesn't necessarily need to travel in (car seat is safer anyway).

Other LEAs provide M&H training and car seats for those undertaking the transport.

Snowmash it's a health and saftey issue there not iffically allowed to lift ds but he is willing to bend rules for few weeks

as for the headrest it turned out ds should had one ages ago as we travel on public transport a lot and if accident well whiplash defintley Brocken neck ossiably :(
