Jimjams, remembered that you'd said that Jackie/Jacqui was a friend of yours. Just watched the promgramme and felt totally humbled. Tears welling up as I type-how does that woman cope?!! She has my total respect, admiration and the realisation that my crappy day has nothing on her everyday life and that whenever I start whingeing about things, I'll think about her and shut up. I saw that at the end of the programme that she's on line to chat and I just said to my husband, "I'd love to talk to her, but what do you say to a F..g saint?!" I wouldn't know where to start without sounding patronising but if I knew where she lived, I'd send her flowers! The boy that was chatting, that had Aspergers (Luke, was it?) was articulate, funny and such a character and through his words, made me feel that although it was just the norm for them, there's obviously so much going on behind the scenes and I reckon his mum must be so proud of all of them. Can't say anything else-just a gut reaction to a wonderful programme.LOL

Fantastic family, fantastic mother, as someone else said how does she do it on virtually no sleep?

Also watched the programme on BBC4 afterwards, mostly about the adults who were diagnosed as children but also Charlotte Moore's 2 boys - she writes about them in the Guardian sometimes and she also has a wonderful calm and accepting way of living with them. Very impressed with her too.

Loobie · 30/07/2003 23:18

dp and I watched it and felt totally in awe, and very humbled... I felt so bad for ever thinking I've got it hard with our one 'typical' 19month ds! She was amazing - how she survives with that little sleep is beyond me -I'm a complete cow on anything less than 7 hours! Fantastic programme.

eefs · 31/07/2003 09:20

thought she was so calm and unruffled - and then I started to well up when I could see how upsetting it was for her to be told all about Joe's diagnosis. What a lady!

ThomCat · 31/07/2003 10:11

Wow. Like many of you have said already it was very humbling. I was watching in upstairs becasue i was annoyed with DP who has been unhelpful at home this week and felt so bad that I was complaining about my life. She was a wonderful and positive woman with a fantastic family. A very positive and heartwarming programme.

Loobie · 04/08/2003 22:58
