Looking to take the kiddies somewhere tomorrow as a bit of a late birthday surprise!! (DS was 6 today!) But need somewhere that will alsobe suitable for Amelia too.

Chessington is about the nearest and the cheapest for us, but has anyone any experience of it please?

No but I can't see why it wouldn't work for her.
I reckon it'll be fine. What are your concerns, if any?

My children are both NT but we have been at Chessington a few times.

You can get a pass from Guest Services for children with SN which allows you to go to the front of the queue on all the rides which is good and will avoid hours spent in queues.

It is quite busy generally there so I wouldn't do it if crowds are hard for her to handle.

Hope you have a nice day

Hi TC!! How are you all doing? Hope all is well.

I think mainly trying to find something suitable for both ds and dd. It seems that when ever we go anywhere Amelia gets "left" in her buggy and misses out. I suppose when she isn't in her buggy, we have to try to keep hold of her, ds and the buggy. Not really taken them both anywhere like this before.

Hello lovley lady! I'm all good sweet, hope the same goes for you.
Happy Birthday to your DD btw, sorry I'm watching that holiday camp progwith D while typing. Hope she had an amazing day.

So - this trip, well I've taken lottie to legoland and there are rides there that she was fine with. I'm sure they'll be rides that work for her fine and some that don't, b ut that's gonna happen whatever and whereever, isn't it, really????
I really think it'll be fine but am worried I'll say that and you'll have a bad time and I'll feel terrible about it.
She'll be able to go on rides won't she?

Ahhh, well that sounds even better, can't go wrong with that, yes, that's the one. I'd be well up for that if I was 6, actually I'd be up for that now as well. Sounds perfect.

Dingle · 30/08/2005 21:54

Yep, we have almost decided. Not going to Chessington, not going to Howletts either. Now we think we are going to the "sister" zoo, also in Kent , Port Lymph.

Been there before when Jack was a mere babe. Rather hilly to push the buggy around but a feel still more relaxed than the likes of Chessington.

Have a lovely day and a happy birthday to your ds.

Just in case, September and October Saturdays are normally not too crowded at Chessington. Tickets are usually cheap (about £10 each) on last minute.com

Where did you go Dingle? Hope you had a lovely day.

We took dd to Howletts last weekend. She loves monkeys so she was in her element - first time she has seen real ones. She does a wicked monkey impression now too!

Ended up at Port Lympne!!! OMG those hills!!

Yes a lovely day, rather too hot for my liking though!!That's a hot face not an angry one!
Don't like the new set up much, you can't see some of the animals unless you pay the extra and go on the "African experience" trail. I really didn't think Amelia, or the other passengers, would thank me for going on the hour long "safari" couped up in a hot ol' dusty BUS!

A great day, but so glad to be back home. Going to open a bottle of wine in a mo'. To help numb the pain of my aching calves!
