DD's OT decided last month that dd needs more independance in the bathroom (she's 7 with cp) so she has started the process of applying for a wet room.
Was just wondering, how long does it take to do? Apparently they will remove the bath, lay a floor, tile 2 walls and install shower and seat.
My only worry is the only toilet in the house is in the bathroom and i don't want to have to keep interrupting the workmen so that we can use it.
I am also really going to miss my bath, although i love having showers there is nothing like a long hot soak in the bath after a bad day.

We've just moved into a house that has a wet room (previous tenant was wheelchair boud) and it is great. They didn't use the existing bathroom though. They converted what I suppose you'd class as larder/outhouse (?) into a wet room with toilet. It is a room that was attached to the kitchen where you'd stick fridge/tumble drier. Might be worth asking if they could convert that so that is is also downstairs.

Shower is lovely, floor is level so you could wheel the chair into it. There are two 3ft glass panels that fold on either side with rubber strips on the bottom and also a shower curtain to stop the rest of the bathroom floor getting wet.

DS2 (autism) would spend hours in there if I let him, it helps him calm down when he is having a meltdown. Grin

We had one in last house when moved in what I would say is make sure floor level otherwise end up with puddles so anyo e needing loo during day would get wet socks as whole floor wax wet even with doors mind the fityo g of them was a issue

was took out not long after we moved in as could not get ds in there

Oh and the flooring make sure it's one that comes upwards onto wall slightly like. Bathtub tent as otherwise the non timed Walls get soggy at the bottom

Thank you everyone, getting excited about it but slightly nervous at the same time.
We do have a concrete outhouse / shed on the side of our house that could be converted as it is massive, but i want that to be my utility room if i can ever convince dp to build it himself.
