I have done something, and am now worried I over reacted.

We saw a psychiatrist (home visit)this week for ds PDDAG review (pervasive developmental disorders assessment group)as they couldnt' decide when the full assessment was done. (I think not for ASD but that's another story, and either way is ok). He was locum and not person we saw last time.

Spent nearly half the time telling me about his experiences with social workers in a clinical setting, and other anecdotes, I had to keep saying, 'so, back to ds...'

he then took two phone calls about another 'patient' and although i left the room because I was so embarassed I still got to hear this mother's name and her child's name and what part of the country they live and other details about this lad's issues and care.

He also told me two (long) anecdotes about children (without LD unlike ds) who chose not to speech because they didn't need to. When I asked what point he was making for ds he stated that signing was 'the easy option for ds'.

He met ds for 5 mins, we started signing with him when his speech stopped developing and regressed, and he has done amazingly well. I fell like he was implying it's my fault he has no speech..

he and the lovely LD pschologist are due to give the PDDAG feedback and I have said I don't want him there. LD pysch asked why not and I explained. I have said don't want to make formal complaint, and Psych has said he will raise it my reasons with this guy.

Am now worried I made a fuss over little.Confused

What do you guys think? Sorry this is bit long. Thanks

You have not over reacted in the slightest. Good on you, Starlight's right, you and your DS deserve someone who can behave professionally - if he can't do that, how can you trust his professional judgement??

I think you were right, no overreaction. He needs to learn to do his job properly and professionally....feedback rules! Grin

Thanks, I needed to hear that, it's hard sometimes to gauge a response, and I end up rattling around in my own head, second guessing myself.

At least he is locum and they are advertising so he won't be around long...

Will go off to bed re-assured, Smile

Ta x
