my head is really mashed and i have no idea where to start DS1 has ASD so i have asked for a change of circumsatnces as he was o nly awarded low rate mobility when other perants and proffesionals have said he should be reciving high rate so read the criteria (if severly mentally impaired this can include such condition as autism as well as learning difficulties and is in recipt of higher rate care and because of unpredicatble behaviuor problems and needs someone to watch over them when they are awake and regually requires physical restraint to prevent them harming them selfs or others they will be entitled to high rate mobility !!! DS1 fits all this so just started filling in form and mind has literally gone blank cant find the right words or anything ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , ,

Hope your head has cleared since you wrote this. We only get lower rate mobility so am not much help, but good luck.

No help either, since also only got lower rate mobility, even though DS1 fits that description. The fact that he sleeps fairly well at night, even if he is frequently up with the lark, so only gets middle rate care seems to preclude him from higher rate mobility (unless I had the energy to make a huge song and dance about it, which frankly, I don't).

OK, I should actually add to that. A diary detailing what is involved when you go out would provide evidence form your side. I don't know how old your DS is, but a report from nursery or school, explaining the level of supervision needed and pointing out incidents where he's behaved in a potentially dangerous manner, even with supervision would also help illustrate that he really doesn't understand about keeping himself safe and that reminders aren't enough - he needs one on one supervision. It also backs up that he has the difficulty and not you, as a parent, if you know what I mean.

I don't feel that I am as yet qualified to answer, because my form is currently in the hands of a decision-maker, so I don't know if I have done enough to get HRM yet.

However, I do know that the criteria can be failed at any one point, so you need to nail down each and every one of them.
