Hello again - just a quick one to let you know about some information that the Council For Disabled Children has put together, called My Rights, Your Responsibility.

The Council is concerned that disabled children and young people are frequently being told they cannot join in with activities, community facilities and other services because of health and safety requirements. The information they give addresses those issues, and details what needs to be done to ensure that children and young people can safely join in while still complying with health and safety requirements.

If you've got any comments on the pages, do feel free to leave feedback on this thread - we'll make sure it gets to the CDC.

Thanks!

yeah plus the Aiming High money that England got for respite/short breaks, when Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales were allocated their "share" under the Barnett Formula it wasnt specified what it was to be spent on so just went into council budget pots rather than to disabled children.

Also when the new government said they were doing away with ALL CTF's and it would provide more respite breaks it only applies to respite breaks for children in England and not even that many at that!

In our area children with asd only get short break if severe LD or challenging behaviour on top of autism. Severe autism is not sufficient on it's own.
