Private Speech Therapy

I really love our NHS SALT, she is the best professional we see, but she only visits DD at nursery a few times a term.

So, I would like to investigate a private SALT.

Does anyone know if the NHS SALT will then withdraw/be offended, or is it done quite commonly?

TIA. Smile

I don't think it's that common, but I did that, and always made NHS aware, and there were no problems.

Thanks, I will ask her maybe, when I next see her (if ever!)

hey Fanjo,
Funnily enough, I was looking at the same thing. I was told that you can have an NHS SALT and private input but both have to keep each other informed.
How is DD?

She is OK, but getting rather frustrated with not being able to speak and not as easy-going as she was..it's hard, especially with NO respite in summer holidays except going to work.

how are you and DS?

We have done NHS and private alongside since the beginning of therapy for DD and both have been aware of the presence of the other from the start with no problems. I have had much more help from the private SALT than NHS and have been very grateful to have been in a position to help DD in that way. Sadly there is far too little NHS help available for the children who need it Sad

Thanks..I think I will go for it!

we are doing good but similar to you. The lack of speech is creating behavioural issues so thinking of going down private route too. Once a week in a group setting at nursery is having no effect.....
