Getting worried about dd2 starting school in september, will everything be in place when she starts?

Dd2 (ASD) starts school in september, she is statemented for 15 hours 1:1 whilst she is just doing mornings, the school have got funding to give her full 1:1 support covering break times and lunch (when she is full time). I was told an advert had gone out during the last week of term for a 1:1 (TA), I have not seen the add anywhere. I was also told they would be puting an extra gate on the school entrance to make dd safe (she's a runner), so far the gate is not there.

I'm getting worried as i have no idea if there will be a 1:1 when she starts or who it will be and i'm worried for her safety as the school gates are allways open (onto a main road).

Is anyone else worrying about September?

Come join me in having a wobble. Im sure all will be ok (its just me being silly).

ME!!!!
DD, no statement, no dx...yet, met senco and tried to explain her needs more but nothing else to be done until dx. Got an inclusion teacher that visits/supports/suggests with school. They suggested a playtime buddy....no friends as her ONLY friend is not moving up yet.

Worried about longer days (full days), wetting, funny voices...she enjoyed nursery but may get over stimulated and be worse at home. She doesnt do conversation 1-1 and can be in your face and bossy....if she gets no where she may withdraw. :(

Phew! :) Thanks Marne, got that off my chest!

....just next weeks assesment to stress about now!

Oh, I always wobble Grin. Even though J has the same (brilliant) TA as last year and seems to have a decent teacher, I am still worried about September. The only thing I can suggest to help in your case is see if the school have an INSET day on the first day back (most schools do) and ring up then to talk through any concerns. Also, most teachers pop in the week before term starts; I would definitely expect the head to at some point, so I would try ringing then maybe, to set your mind at rest.

J has been at school for years and has a full time TA and I still panic so you're not alone!

dd1 has a new teacher starting at ehr school. at least, I think she does - one left at the end of last term, but we haven't had any info on a replacement (which HAS to happen - the school is permanently 1-2-1, so they can't be a teacher down, iyswim?) and school usually very good at giving out pecs style cards with pictures etc, for any change about to happen.

and dd2 starts pre-school too. and this will be a significant change for her, and could well go pear-shaped. we veer between thinking she is NT but stroppy and sensitive, and thinking she is AS. only time will tell, but we don't want her to struggle at all.

I am worrying about September too! DS is due to start Reception (at ASD Unit) and is still insisting on using the pottie! He is only partially trained and still pooing in a nappy! Then there is the issue of transport - LEA are paying me to drive him to school for the first half term which is great. After that he is expected to go by taxi where his hours coincide with the others in the unit. The journey is about 15 miles and will take 45 minutes plus which I am not very happy about!! DS is not likely to take to travelling in a strange car (when we changed our car last summer he was unsettled for weeks!). I also feel that when we went to a meeting with the school to discuss transition that the school had their own way of doing things and didn't take on board what had worked at Pre-School. I seriously wondering whether to re-think our options! He isn't 5 until March - is it too late?
