Hi there,

DS is on dla because he does not talk or walk at two and has had over a year of poor weight gain and sickness through severe reflux. Wondered if anyone had gone to any attractions recently where the carers also get in free. Cheers

What area are you in? A lot of places do discounts but you need to ask (worth asking every where). We went to Longleat last week and got in half price (2 dd's on DLA and me and my mum got in half price as carers).

Sound like you had a wonderful time. Longleat is not far from us we live in Swindon.

We had a disabled child annual pass to Marwell last year, included adult carer in price and also covered Bristol Zoo entry too.
I should check out all your local attractions first. Marwell became a real bolthole for me and my 3, we worked out our perfect route around it (with loos, playground, hill to roll down etc) and because of the annual pass it didn't matter if we had to make an early exit.

Longleat cost us £41 for 4 of us, i wouldn't have been able to pay full price. The girls loved it, it wasn't too busy as its spread out. You can also go back if you don't get everything done in one day.

A lot of the childrens farms do discounts.

X-posts! This year we have the Hampshire Culture-all passport which covers any 2 adults and any 2 children plus free parking at country parks - is such good value I'd forgotten about disability discounts. Have a google and see if Wiltshire does anything similar.

Hi malfranco,

we are in Swindon too! (yay Swindon!)
Do you have a Swindon card for your ds? its only £3, and you get a supporters card with it, so you get in free with them. Been to 'stepping stones' swimming at oasis this morning. ds (nearly 4) £2.40. Me free, and pool much quieter, as only open to sn adults and kids and seniors. If you wanna meet up and go give me a shout.

Also do you know Cotswold Wildlife Park near Burford. No discount for disabilities, but year pass about £50 for adult under 3 free. We go lots cos its only 25 mins from us and if we have paid for the year then we can stay as long as ds (and dh, who is also disabled) can manage. reasonable paths, enough seats, and little train which ds loves!

Swindon also does swimming and tramplolining sessions free for SN under 5s during the hols. Ben Humphries at Swindon Council can give you details. Do you know about Koalas special opportunities group? based at Saltway centre, they have been brill for ds.

Sorry for huge post, just wanted to pass on info. Smile
