just so peed off, cant even get the energy to winge properly. had appointment with registrar 2 weeks ago, she never met ds ever before, she didnt try to interact with him once during appointment, she hardly spoke, i didnt get chance to giv an update on ds's problems and the new issues as she kept looking at clock.
just got report letter heres a few paragraphs of it, we have been going to paed for 2.5 years now: "On a recent review (actually 1st time ed phyc saw him) the ed phyc summarised that ds was a co-operative boy who played well in nursery and followed instructions and communicated with both familiar and unfamiliar adults and children (he know all the kids there), ds abilities fall mainly within the average range and he is particulary good at pictoral reasoning but he had difficulty with the naming vocabulary" erm he ets on well with these kids cos he knows them, oh and actually i usually get pulled in cos he hits people, and teachers have said he needs ectra help with instructions and more adult guidance as the last to "get it" salt said the dismiss the report as she put ds as 4 months advanced for his age, which is totallywrong as 2 sperate senior salt have said 20 months delayed.
nearly over so sorry.
another part says "ds had good interactio with myself and clinic staff today" er well you never actually spoke to him once and he was screaming tring to drag me out the door cos he wanted to go screaming go go go.
then she puts , get this " and indeed after clinic i did notice him playing outside with other children" omg omg, they where my friends children who he knows and one of those children has a dx of asd, so does that mean cos that child was playing then nothing rong with him. So on that she finally puts " i feel this is in large part behaviour response to speech and language delay rather than asd. we obviouslyneed to observe ds over forthcoming years" so after no formal assessments apart from salt who agree not just lang delay over last 2.5 years this is te reg's decision, what happened to the adhd the paed mentioned and the fact that ds may be on spectrum and social comm problems. But they agree that he needs to go t an inclusion base.

just need to cr, i was warned about this paed not taking people seriously, i have asked for a transfer to new paed last week but heard nothing.

I AM NOT IMAGINING THIS ISSUES IT IS MORE THAT LANG DELAY, JUST NEED SOME STRENTH AND SOMEONE TO TKAEOVER ALL THIS COS I HAVE HIT ROCK BOTTOM, HAVE DEPRESION AND JUST WANT TO CURL IN A BALL OR JUMP OFF A BRIDGE

Sorry bad day I'm much the same to tired to keep fighting but if I don't who will

Hang in there. I managed to get out of the paed system in our area (they are all useless) and into our areas CAMHS assessment team for my son. Today I had the pleasure of telling said useless paed (whoose fav phrase is see you in 6 months and does not listen to anything parents say) that my son has a ASD diagnosis (not that I want my son to have ASD but he does) via CAMHS. You will get there stick to your guns and you will find a way.

Write to the consultant pointing out the inaccuracies in the letter. Get your GP to write & ask for another appointment urgently as you'll have 6m delay otherwise. And insist on seeing consultant not registrar. Or dump them for camhs as above

pokhara · 11/08/2010 22:51

well i have just posted another post( makes sense that!!) asking how to refer to camhs?

H i. Take a breath and give yourself a break. Sometimes it all gets too much-too many balls to juggle, and it is exhausting.
Give yourself a few days, then start the "fight" again.
Write to the Head of your Primary Care Trust,(PCT), and complain. State that you have "x" concerns re your ds, have been seeing "x" for 2.5yrs, and are no further forward.Say you would like ds to be referred to a CAMHS Team or a clinical child psychologist who is able to carry out an ASD Assessment,to either rule ASD in or out.
State you feel strongly that ds has suffered and regressed due to not receiving the prompt and high standard of care to which he and you are entitled.
Also, get a report from school re ds from his TEACHER/CLASSROOM ASSISSTANT, Not the Ed Psych, since they are the ones dealing with your ds daily. This will give whoever sees ds next a picture of how he is outwith the home environment, and backs-up your concerns re his longstanding difficulties.
Hope this speeds up the process for you-let us know how you get on.
