Ds just scared me to death, he had a fragile X blood test and of course got upset, but it was over and he was calming down, had the plaster on his hand was about to choose a sticker, the next thing his wole body tensed up (like when they do them shocks on the heart) and his eyes rolled in his head, i could just see the whites of his eyes...he was totally stiff.

It lasted about 5 seconds but was awful Sad i ended up in tears, then he vomited everywhere...anyone seen this before?

The doc checked him over, and said it is quite common, but i have never heard of that before. They just said keep an eye on him over the next 24hrs.

Could it be a reflex anoxic seizure, very common and harmless, more info here:

Ds1 (15 NT).. Normally fit as a fiddle until jabs.. He likes to do this.. And it's horrid to watch.. Always fine after if not a bit achey ( from the muscles tensing).

Scared the heck out of me though!

Sorry to hear it was so stressful and scary.

My ds had his fragile X test a week ago and was terrified too.

Hoping you and your ds are over the shock soon.

Jerking/stiffening can happen after a faint (for a short period and with no post-ictal phase after).

I am sorry that this happened to your DS, and hope you all recover quickly.

Thanks everyone...was my first time seeing anything like it, and of course my child in my arms so very upsetting.

I actually didn't put that when ds came out of this, he was floppy and very drowsy, I had to hold him into sitting position so he didn't choke on the vomit, he was drowsy for about an hour afterwards with his head lolling and eyes barely open.

If this was a first seizure of some sort, is another one likely to happen?
