Last minute holiday cottage wanted - any ideas?

DH has got a fortnight off end of August and so we thought it might be fun to go away for a week somewhere. We have a new baby (and two toddlers), so want to stay in the UK - has anyone got any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks!

Litdog, do you have certain requirements - I remember you saying that your dd was hyperactive but are there other things that you need to look out for? It might help people on this topic to give suitable recommendations.

Tbh, nowhere we have been with ds2 has been ideal. One year we booked a log cabin in the grounds of a farm, and one of my things I'd specifically searched for was an enclosed garden. Then I found when we got there that the gate had no latch but was propped closed/open using a stone light enough for the boys to move themselves - and furthermore there was a hole in the hedge leading to a field with a lake in it Shock. Not such a relaxing holiday as I had hoped for. (It was also on that holiday that we discovered ds2 has a brazil nut allergy, but that's by the by Smile.)

This year we are going camping for a week - we did one night earlier on in the year and the boys thought it was brilliant. But not to a campsite we've been to before, so I will report back afterwards!

We use English Country Cottages and their other linked companies a lot. Many of the cottages have very good security features in them and really decently fenced safer gardens. They're also very nice people to deal with - only had one problem in 25 years of using them.

we used cottages4you but contacted the owners directly to check facilities. Virtual tours were helpfull to.

Good luck with the camping HighFibreDiet, we were thinking of trying it out but not sure where to camp yet.

Thanks guys. Yup, DD is slightly hyperactive so we thought by the coast would be good so there would be things to do to keep her busy...

Interesting reading about camping - I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps we'll wait til the baby's a bit bigger but that might be fun.

I will look up cottages4you and English Country Cottages - thanks for the recommendations!

just come home from here and it was sheer bliss. The least inexpensive holiday we have ever had as the children were happy in the hot tub and exploring the surroundings.

It's a 30 minute drive to the beach but well worth the effort.
