Random people seem extra keen to talk to DS lately - what can I say to them when he screams, shouts or ignores them?

I don't know if it's just cos he's so goddam adoreable but people seem determined to have a conversation with ASD ds recently.

He just does his usual either blanks them (best case scenario), screams in terror and shrinks away, or shouts at them eg 'NO!' or 'GO AWAY!'

People don't know what to do and I realise they are just being friendly but what is it best for me to say??

My dd2 (4.6) wear a badge when we go out (which says, i'm not ignoring you, im Autistic), she gets a lot of people talk to her (even when they see the badge), i hate having to explain to people.

I hate having to explain too, but also feel like I ought to explain

I think I will get one of those badges, may weed a few explanations out.

I did explain to the nice sales assistant in ELC yesterday when I heard DS scream in terror when the nice man said hello to him. He was actually really kind and friendly about it and seemed quite on the ball regarding autism which made a refreshing change. If only everyone we came across was so understanding!

So many more people know about Autism then they did a few years ago.

A lovely lady comented on dd's badge whilst we were in the waiting room at the doctors, i explained that dd2 hardly ever talked to people, with that dd2 walked into the midle of the room and shouted 'Helloooooo every one' at the top of her voice and then continued to act out a whole episode of strawberry shortcake (just to make a point) .

Oh yes if they want to talk everyone will listen!

Marne does your DD expect you to reel off scripts too? DS just does not believe me that I cannot remember them word for word like he can, he is practically scornful at my pleas of stupidity when I protest that I don't know all the words to astroboy/wallE/doctorwho/UP/planet protectors!

Yes , she manages to remember a whole episode of Peppa Pig or Strawberry short cake and expects me to remember it too.
