ASD/ behavioural checklist?

Does anyone have a checklist for ASD/ADHD/ chalenging behaviour?

DS1 is 2.7. He head bangs, sucks his fingers, is very unbiddable and not good at 'circle time'. Not sure how concerned to be at this stage. If he has enough clustered behaviours I would be very interested in trying behaviour modifying techniques.

Any thoughts?

Hi Kitty

S'pose my first thoughts were that my ds (now 9 hfa/adhd) was also a headbanger along with other issues some of which you have mentioned. A good book to dip in and out of is Tony Attwood's book on Aspergers. I'm not sure about behaviour modifying techniques - certainly there are strategies that we apply, etc - someone with more knowledge about them may post - have you thought about the assessment process for asd?

I got checklists for social, emotional, cognitive and I think physical signs of AS from a website called familyeducation.com in the printables section, it is american but i found the checklists very helpful. I even made notes relating to some behaviours on the back and took the to the Gp and first Pead appointment. I have tony attwoods book too, you should be able to get it from the library or on amazon.

Thanks for replying.

Will order Tony Attwood's book and have a look at the website mentioned.

DS1 had an initial health visitor assessment today. A basic screening questionnaire. DS1 did score on several points. She recommended a more detailed review in 1 month. Essentially a softly, softly approach. I am not sure how diagnostic DS1s behaviours are, I am worried about inappropriately labelling him at a young age.

After the assessment I had a largish coffee group come round. DS1 tried on everyone's shoes. Normally I would have not thought much about it. Actually feeling a bit down about it now

Thanks for your help.

Hi
Having been there with my little boy, Freddie, I know its one of those things you want to check out further but you dont, if you know what I mean!! I completed the questionaire on Childbrain it was spot on with Freddie. Takes a while to complete but it has lots of help with how to score etc. Early intervention is the key so the sooner the better! Good luck
