Education Lawyers/Tribunal?

Hi

My son has just finished Year 5 and is in a mainstream school. He has a statement for dyslexia/dyspraxia and APD (auditory processing difficulties). I want to send him to the Moat School in Fulham (an independent dyslexia school) as I feel that he will not cope in any of the mainstream secondary schools around. I will have to submit my choice next term and feel that I should simply prepare myself for the fight with the LEA that will probably start. All of his paperwork is up to date and I wondered if anyone could recommend an Education Lawyer for help with the probable upcoming tribunal.

Perhaps I'm being unnecessarily alarmist and the LEA will just give us the funding without a fight?

What was said at his Yr 5 annual review about his secondary placement? That should give you some idea of whether the LA are thinking of sending him mainstream for secondary.

If you want to send him to an independent special school, you will have to show that no other schools are appropriate - possibly including mainstream schools in the next county or LA special schools.

I can personally recommend this firm. If cost is an issue, this is a cheaper option which friends of mine have recommended. You may have to pay for private assessments on top of legal fees. I've seen this solicitor speak at a SEN event and she seems very good - the firm accept legal aid but there's very tight criteria.

Thank you so much for your recommends - I will look into them.

He has had a good Year 5 report - but I know he will fade in a big school.

I booked him into a playscheme for the summer and he only lasted 2 days.

I'm prepared to spend £5 - £7k on fighting for a school that is £7k a term for 5 years.

hi
try this firm of solicitors in Penarth wales
they are called sinclairs law. I was told to win the case you have to prove it is cheaper to send the child to a private school, than to provide the help he needs in mainstream school. good luck
