Hi

Got dd's DLA renewal form this morning -it's the first renewal for us.
It runs out on 26th November -when would be best to send it back, so that it doesn't run out before it's dealt with?

Also, if for some reason they decided not to renew it (worst nightmare!) would it stop straight away, or would it still run til its' expiry date?

Many thanks -grateful for any advice. I am totally stressed out already and I haven't even filled in the front cover!

It will run to the original date regardless of whether it is renewed.

It doesn't matter when you send the renewal form back in, tho personally I like to get on with it and get rid of it asap! What I personally do tho is make sure I include every single letter from every professional, and I make sure that professionals sign the back not just a friend who knows the child.
Also I NEVER out the GP's details down, only the community paeds as the person to contact as the GP never sees my son whereas the Paed does know him!

One page a day, glass of wine in hand.

Oh and don't worry about cramming it into their boxes. I type each heading on a piece of A4 and simply staple the lot in! I think they renewed mine last time ultra fast because they couldn't be bothered to wade through it all...
Good luck

would echo all of the above, photocopy everything - even the form that way it is easier when you have to regurgitate stuff you have already told them in every other renewal form.

Yep, do it sooner rather than later - if only so it's not lurking about in the back of your consciousness - but mainly because if you do need to appeal, then you can get cracking on that. And once it's done, photocopy the whole thing so that when renewal time comes along you've got it all there still. Was so chuffed last year, ds1's renewal was for 5 years this time, was so excited I nearly threw a party to celebrate!
The worst part of the form is having to be so negative about what ds can't do, and how badly his behaviours can affect things, when in everyday life I try to focus on the positives.

Thanks for the great advice, everyone - it's rapidly turning into a huge source of stress for me, so I'm going to get cracking on it tonight.

I won't be able to get my hands on copies of dd's IEPs until September. Do you think I should send the form without them, or hang on til I've got them?

Thanks again
