DLA update

Well, for those of you who remember my saga and outrage at DS' refusal of DLA, there had been progress.

I sent in a 48 page letter with reports etc.

However, I got a call today to apologise that none of it was even read as a re-consideration was done before it arrived.

Now worries though, on the basis of what I had already sent in DS now has been awarded lower rate mobility and middle rate care.

I'm quite happy with that.

Just shows you that these things are worth pursuing!

Someone was talking about a reconsideration the other day and whether they were at risk of it being reconsidered downwards as well as up.

The guy I spoke to today say that theoretically this can happen but if it has been considered at a certain level, there is little chance of having that removed.

I was now going to apply for attendance allowance. Is it means tested on the family's income or just the carer's?

Do you eman carers allowance?

thats assessed on your own income- if you qualift wrt to dla (you do) work hours anad income then you get it

Well done

X post LOL

ShadeofViolet · 22/07/2010 15:04

I dont think its means tested - they dont ask any info about income on the forms.

Well done on getting DLA and surviving the forms

Some carers orgs are campiagning for income to gradually decrease as HB does, which would be good; every time we lose £1 of HB we celebraate that we're a step further back out of the shite, but if I was ever able to work i''d have to turn down overtime that put me £1 over or face losing £53

Which is just silly

From what this guy was saying (and he is a team leader - whoooooa!) that is very unlikely to happen.

Totally. The guy said we could apply for more but I am quite happy sticking rather than twisting too!
