Ds 4.5 has a dx of gdd and is has a verbal dx of ASD.We;'ve been fobbed off for a long time about his health (he tires easily and had poor concentration and motor skills) but recently persuaded paed to do blood tests that show he is anaemic and has elevated ammonia levels .

My google/mumsnet investigations show a link between elevated ammonia levels, global develoipment and ASD and suggest that supplements/diet could help. Not sure where to start with this. so worried about ds ' health and development. can anyone recommed a doctors who could help with this. We're on border of surrey and london.
Thanks in advance

thanks tribunalgoer - I've heard about an org called treating autism but am worried about embarking down an unorthodox route with no proof.
spent lots oftime/money on education when all along ds is poorly.
just read your thread about your gifted dd and i have one of those too! bittersweet to see her at 20 months overtaking ds in some areas. they are both equally gorgeous tho.

The developmental paed has referred ds to the paediatrician at the local hosp. things grind really slowly and i don't want to wait any longer.

he is on iron supplements which worsen his constipation but i don't know how they can treat elevated ammonia levels. We have also started gluten free diet without any advice from docs and have seem some improvements with his interaction and focus.

because ds is delayed developmentally they put his tiredness and falling over down to that rather than the other way round iyswim.

I'm worried that educational inputs such as ABA will not be effective until we can get his health sorted out.
