Ds has only been at his new school for a short time, but the staff there have been brill with ds and really an effort to be supportive and understanding.

Would like to buy them a small gift at the end of term any ideas?

SENCO, ds's 1:1 TA and class teacher.

I usually get couple of bottles of wine for both TAs and teacher. Otherwise box of chocolate or biscuits they can share in staff room?

I was talking to a teacher friend at the weekend (in between pub crawls ), and I asked her about this (it's not somehting I've ever really done, and wanted to know if she reckoned I was being Talked About )

anyway, she said the best things she gets are ones where effort has gone into it form the child, not just a present bought, etc.

would your ds enjoy helping you to make a cake for his teachers? and icing with icing pens, maybe?

You could also write to the Head and/or chair of governors saying how brilliant the teacher/TA/SENCo have been -- I did this last year.

Apart from anything else, to be a little bit Machiavellian, it builds up a fund of goodwill with the school in case there's any battles to fight later -- which obviously I hope there won't.

Silver, were you talking or 'slurring' to a teacher at the weekend

Ds loves to do the mixing for cakes and eating them, not so keen on the icing or the handing over of cakes we have made!

Niminy, i have already written to the Head thanking her and staff for making ds feel so welcome etc, etc. (an idea from Star on here already on another thread!)

Great minds eh!

might have slurred just a little

hmm, can see what you mean re: not handing them over... can you make 2? one his absolute favourite (to keep) and one that he isn't so fussed about, and of course willnot mind at all since he has his favourite still at home?

god, it's tricky this, isn't it?

one of dd1's teachers is leavign at the end of this term, and we want to get somethign for her. will probably fall back on my old staple of visiting the pottery barn and getting dd1 to smear lovingly paint something for her!

I've suggested this elsewhere but as a teacher I love being given picture books, perhaps a child's favourite story or maybe one in which a character shares the child's name - it reminds me of the child and is something I will use time and time again with classes down the years.

I know it's not the same as a consumable but given I'm always buying books for the classroom it's nice to be given something I can make use of in school but that is for me!

ive run out of ideas since ds's one to one left at christmas and i bought her stuf now ds is leaving and i want to buy for the senso who then took over as ds's one to one and she is brilliant, his portage worker she is great not alway been perfect but i know she has ds's best interest at heart most of the time and hes seen her for 2 and a half years.
i bought the one to one that left a willow tree figure that said thankyou on it my ds chose it from a few at a shop, well he chose a son one but i convinced him that one was the same but nicer!! he also got her wine and flowers!! and a painted mug he made her!! i think i went overboard a bit and used all my ideas so now im stuk for senco and portage peeps!! ive got chocolates for the salt - shes only seen ds a handful of times so not spending loads on her, and a bit bok of chocolates for all nursery staff to share but stuck on proper presents now aaaaaaaahhhhhhh. i like the book idea may do that if i can find anything good, or soemthing pottery related!!!! i have to do it by monday though so stressing now lol

One of my favourite gifts was a specially drawn picture in a simple frame. I kept it for years in my classroom.

Pondering the same thing myself though I think I am going for pens this year as some of his TAs are men. (Saving the wine for when he leaves next year.)
