Hi, I have a 5 year old daughter with a developmental delay of approx 2 years. She also has a severe speech disorder.
I read that music can really help children with speech problems and that learning an instrument is really beneficial especially in children with developmental delays.
My daughter has always loved music, and I wonder if she's too young to learn either the piano or violin etc ? She has very good rythem and she loves "playing" any instrument she can get her hands on. She also has good concentration. I just don't know wether she'll need to be more advanced to learn to play properly ? If so, what can we do in the mean time that will help her to develop her musicality?

I think that getting her more into music is a lovely idea and I think that it can help in developing lots of other language, social and learning skills.

There is no reason she could not get lots out of learning to play an instrument as long as you find an understanding teacher (not just one focused on getting her up to a certain standard) who can make it fun and exciting for her.

How about a drumming group (lots seem to be setting up where we live) or singing or percussion lessons
