At 5 she wouldn't have missed alot to be honest, reception is more about the children getting use to being at school and learning the basics (letters, blending, numbers). Have you spoken to the teacher to see if she is behind?

In the first instance approach the school adn see if they can offer any one to one or small group work within the classroom . The teacher could use other prompts to help her remember and follow the lesson. 5 is very young to have additional learning beyond school hours and as long as she gets gromits soon it shouldn't set her back long term academically. Does she have any SALT - hv, gp or school could refer you if not yet.

My DC1 had glue ear/grommits/delayed speech (couldn't hear/pronounce consonants). Was a bit behind with her reading in Reception/Year 1 but caught up fairly quickly. We didn't get a tutor - just were careful to go through her reading books with her etc. Of course I understand that if you have other responsibilities/children etc then you might think a tutor worth it but I honestly think you will find that things turn out fine.
