Has anyone got a child in a special school for speech and language difficulties or disorders at secondary level please. My son is 13 and statemented and has to attend a new school which is terrifying. We are looking at Trinity in Rochester, the Link in Croydon, Centre Academy and Blossom House in Wimbledon. Please could anyone with any experience of these let me know anything about them good or not. We have urgent decisions to make. Also if anyone has chosen to homeschool a child with similar difficulties, especially at this age, I would love to hear from you.

what about Moor House school in Oxted? its meant to be the country's leading specialist school for S&L difficulties. If you google them they will send you a prospectus or arrange a visit. the children are generally funded by the LEA

Is that really so, eatyourveg, about the children being funded by the LEA?

Also, it's boarding only, isn't it?

Hi Loretta1, I noticed your post dated November 2009, please can you tell me how you got on. My son is 13 and I am having the same difficult descision to make and I wondered where your son went to and how he came on. I am looking at Moor House, some children are LEA funded (not all) and most are boarders but some can be days. I am prepared to move where ever it takes to get help for my son who is statemented 20+ hours a week.

There is St Dominic's, St Mary's, Penn, Blossom House, St Catherine's Alderswarly (sp) in Derby. Moor House is not that good. They sell themselves really well but once your child is in they don't live up to what was promised. That school is going down hill......fast!!!

I have a similar problem, my daughter has severe SLI, and there is no provision in the whole of yorkshire that can meet her needs for secondary school, and i really dont know what to do as time is running out

we are looking at special schools for one of our children and have been very impressed by Moor House their recent Ofsted's have been out standing, they are very high ratio of SALT's to pupils. why is the school going down hill fast?
