Has anybody been to the Irlen centre to get assessed for tinted lenses?

I am taking DS and wondering what kinds of tests do they do. They said the assessment take about 3 hours.

Do they do things to assess how DS percieves the enviroment as well as how he percieves print.

The school got someone in to assess my DD .It only took about an hour although she only was being assessed for an overlay.
Difficult to get a lot of sense out of DD who claims never to remember anything that happens at school.
The woman checked her written work and had her read a bit from a chapter book to check her accuracy and comprehension and also talked to her to assess vocabulary.
She says she had to read Dutch words through different coloured overlays and to look at diagrams, patterns and pictures and discribe how they moved under different coloured overlays.we haven't had the report back yet

madamearcati- DS had that test in school also and has been using a turquoise overlay for a while now. This helps but doesnt stop the text moving compleatly.

The tinted lenses are much more specific and takes away the need for the overlays and coloured paper.DS also gets tired pretty quickly and suffers from headaches when consentrating on his work. Im hoping the glasses will be better for him.

It will also mean I will have to stop relying on his teacher/TA who I get the impression think that I am making things up, even though the test was done in school.
