Premature with ongoing difficulties

My DD was only 4 weeks premature. He has seen an occupational therapist, a behavioural optomolgist and they all say he is suffering from poor visual tracking and balance issues. We have heaps of exercises to do and to top it all we visited the dentist who said because of all the antibiotics he was given at birth has prevented the enamel on his teeth developing so they are likly to fall out. He works like a trojan and it is absolutel herat breaking to watch him giving up sweets and falling over.
Has anyone else got the same issues?

Dalex- sorry I have no similar experience but maybe try posting on the Special Needs section or the Birth section as there may be more mums with useful advice on those boards

Really feel for you- my DS was 10 wks early and DD 4 wks early but we have (touch wood) avoided any major probs with development etc. Many others are not so fortunate and I'm sure there are others who post on Special needs & Premature birth who can help. Have you also tried the Bliss (premature baby society) message board (see here?

Good luck xxxx

PS. "bumping" is when someone adds a message to your thread to make it appear in "active conversations" or "last 15 mins" as then more mumsnetters will see the thread (which is how I found it!)
