Advice for toilet training an autistic three-year-old showing readiness signs

Hi any ideas on how to get my autistic son to start using the toilet potty?
his 3 years old and is showing signs for a while his ready for potty training, as he will wee & poo all over the house and knows he shouldn’t be doing it, when I catch him I take him to the toilet and say let’s wee here instead shall we? And he won’t do it. Recently I’ve noticed if I say sit on the potty or let’s go to the toilet shall we he will sit on them both! But have no success in any 1or2s. Any recommendations?

Firstly he doesn’t sound ready. It can be far more difficult to toilet train an autistic child.
What is his understanding and expressive language like?
The language you are using is too wordy and vague “ let’s wee here shall we? “ is a question or suggestion rather than a direction.

It’s also confusing to be offering 2 options at this stage. Some children train on a toilet ( with a step and comfy toilet seat) and use a potty when out and about. Others start with a potty and transition to the toilet but this can be hard for some.
I’d wait til you have a clear plan in place with what to use. You need reduced language and ideally symbols.

You could leave the potty out to see if he shows interest then get him to sit on at regular times maybe with something to do or hold. At the minute he may think that sitting on it is something to do after he’s weed or pood.
