The local authority have changed their minds and are now going to assess my child for an ehcp assessment i can't believe it mediation was for Monday it's been such a stressful process! Apparently school sent extra evidence in and that changed their minds so my question is what's the next step upon briefly looking at the hub there is a few questions we need to ask our child to get their views and ours but yeah what's next exactly then ? I know this isn't a guarantee we're going to get the ehcp but it's a start ! For reference we was declined in November to asses, mediation was booked for Monday and tribunal was due for March 2027 I am so happy we've got just past the step!

During the EHCNA the LA must seek advice and information from:
a) the child’s parent or the young person;
b) educational advice (usually from the head teacher or principal);
c) medical advice and information from a health care professional;
d) psychological advice and information from an educational psychologist;
e) advice and information in relation to social care;
f) advice and information from any other person the local authority thinks appropriate;
g) where the child or young person is in or beyond year 9, advice and information in relation to provision to assist the child or young person in preparation for adulthood and independent living; and
h) advice and information from any person the child’s parent or young person reasonably requests that the local authority seek advice from.

H can include things like SALT, OT, physio. So make sure you request anything that is necessary.
