Provision Available in Essex?

HELP! I just do not know where to turn..

We are awaiting an EHCP for SEMH needs and are currently awaiting clinical review for suspected Autism. I was told we could access funding for private provision as my child is considered too vulnerable for mainstream but can anybody point me in the direction of what is available? I have tried googling and contacting a few provisions but I really do not know what I am looking for. My child can academically handle mainstream but we have been told they cannot provide for my child otherwise. What, if anything, is out there between 'mainstream' and 'special' schools?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you :)

The reports from the EHCNA should help you understand what type of provision is required.

How old is DC? Male or female?

You can search for schools here.

When you say private provision, are you looking for independent mainstream or independent SS?

If it is inappropriate for provision to be made in a school, there is EOTAS/EOTIS.

Thanks for responding!

Thank you, I’ve been told a draft will be done after the half term next week so perhaps I just need to be a little more patient.

Born F but living as M, age 13, year 8.

I think SS but have considered EOTAS. I just can’t seem to find settings or much information about what is available. We were asked to name a setting and I just didn’t feel I was able to. I think I’m just worrying about not getting this right for my child..

Even if you don’t have a draft yet, have you seen the reports e.g. from the EP? Have SALT and OT been undertaken? If not, ask for them. The reports should help you understand what is required.

You don’t need to respond with a placement until you have the draft. You can respond then.

It doesn’t have the academic level or range of subjects MS has, but depending on how SEMH needs present, look at The Yellow House School for Y9 onwards.

Depending on where you are in Essex, there might be some in other LAs that are doable. For example, if you are close to the Cambridgeshire border, some travel to Cavendish School (would need an autism diagnosis for this) and if you are close to the Suffolk border, Centre Academy can be within travelling distance depending on how SEMH needs present.
