Son has ADHD Inattentive. How can his school support him better?

My son (yr 7) has been diagnosed with ADHD Inattentive and is trialling medication. He’s at an independent school and has an IEP (individual education plan) which specifies things that his teachers should do (movement breaks, allowing use of a stress ball, tips to help his concentration and use of a diary to record homework tasks in). But the teachers don’t follow these recommendations and he’s struggling to do well with his school work. I provide as much support as I can at home, and I have chats and meetings with the SendCo but feel like I’m getting nowhere. I think his subject teachers could definitely do more but I’m not experienced enough to know what to ask them to do to help him.
Please help!

Do you have the email addresses of the teachers themselves? If so, contact them directly with an explanation and a copy the IEP.

Request another meeting with the SENCO.

The school could look at the placement within the classroom. They could put homework and other notes online. Failing that, they could check DS has noted it down correctly. Do they have a homework club? They could allow DS to use noise cancelling headphones/earphones. Avoidance of copying huge chunks. A mentor/key worker to help organisation, executive functioning and study skills. Resistance bands on chair legs. More involved suggestions could include trying things like a standing desk or specialist seating/an exercise ball rather than a chair.
