Hi my son has just started SEN school and is 3 so not statutory school age yet. I applied for transport and have been offered a PTAB as discretionary transport assistance. Ill be using it to pay a relative to support me in taking little one to school and they said its fine. They said I’ll need an invoice or receipt to claim backpay, how do I do that? Tia

For backpay, if you have already been paying someone/a provider, you should have documentation of that. You can use that even if it isn’t entitled receipt or invoice. The someone/provider doesn’t have to be the person you are using going forward. If you haven’t already been paying for assistance, the LA may not give you backpay, but I would go back to them and explain you don’t have a receipt or invoice, you may be lucky.

Thanks. My son only started this week and I’m paying a relative in cash to help, LA has agreed. LA said it can take 6-8 weeks to put in place so when it comes to payment there will be backdated money. Just not sure how to evidence it.

Ah, I thought you meant backpay from before now.

You will need the arrangement with the relative to be official even if you pay in cash. Either self employed or employed. This will generate the paperwork necessary. For example, the relative might send you an invoice for work they have done. There are pay-roll companies who can help you, but that might not be necessary for just a relatively small amount.
