Advice on School Options for Daughter with SEMH and Possible ASD

Hello,

My daughter is 13 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges and some traits of ASD (undiagnosed). She missed Year 8 classroom lessons but attended Haven, a calm supportive setting. She needs 1:1 support, speaks selectively, and is not verbally aggressive. I’m looking for advice on schools or provisions that could meet her needs, including Farney Close, Hambrook, Philpots Manor, or LVS.

I replied on the thread you posted on asking for SEMH school suggestions, but with the extra information in your OP here, I would avoid (most) SEMH settings. Most SEMH settings would be unsuitable for DD because most SEMH settings are aimed at those with challenging behaviour. With the further information, I doubt Hambrook and Farney Close will be suitable. Typically, LVS like a diagnosis. Still worth looking/asking. Another one to look at is Northease Manor. Although it will be a long journey at school run times.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. My daughter’s mental health needs developed during a period when she was self-harming, which led to a few A&E visits, though she is now have safety plan in place. I also contacted LVS, but they explained that all their pupils need a confirmed ASD diagnosis, and my daughter is still waiting for her assessment through Right to Choose.
