Nursery did not tell new keyworker my son was sen

My sons new keyworker that started this new school year was not informed that my son is sen. I kind of guessed and told her myself this week. When I brought it up with the manager the attitude was very 'well he is low needs'. Are they not supposed to do a handover to new keyworkers of information about a child? Out of nursery my son is a huge flight risk and will try to run away, although he doesn't do this at nursery I still need everyone to be aware that he CAN be like this, and be extra vigilant. Am I being unreasonable to be a little bit disturbed by this?

The nursery should be sharing information. Does DS not have a SEN plan of some sort at nursery - these are called different things in different nurseries/areas e.g. one page profile, MyPlan, IEP…

Yes, he does. And the thing that makes me really cross is that they've literally just claimed extra funding on behalf of his dla. How are they doing that but his key person doesn't even know that he is sen? I emailed and said that I am disappointed. I feel like theyre not interested in him being sen because he is well behaved and settled at nursery and presents as low needs there.

Request a meeting with the nursery. Follow up with an email so you have a paper trail.

Although the key person may not always be aware of Disability Access Funding.

That's a good idea Flawlessflipper, I will do that. The real kicker was his key person saying oh yeah, that explains some things!
