Medication to support aggression/violent behaviour

My 9 year old ASD son is in a specialist setting. He is extremely violent and aggressive when dysregulated. Hurts people viciously, damages objects, the house and on occasion has also hit the cat. Am at the end of my tether, totally utterly crushed and desperate. Is there medication that can be prescribed to moderate his behaviour with an ASD diagnosis? Please don’t judge, I’m just trying to explore every avenue to support him and our family.

Risperdone is prescribed through CAMHS and or a peadiatrician and I’ve heard it helps. We trialled it but at a very low dose but stopped when we didn’t see much difference , I’m sure a higher dose would’ve been effective
but we never persevered.

Some find antidepressants help with violence when dysregulation. As a last resort, antipsychotics (Risperidone is one example but there are others) are prescribed in the minority of situations.

What therapeutic support does DS receive? SALT, OT, MH support?

How is his sleep?
