Temporary accomodation/changing schools

Hi all,

Asking for a friend.
We live in SW London, she has been privately renting for 5 years but on Monday she received a section 21.
Her son is due to start our local school in September he has potentially autism and ADHD she is on the waiting list to see a specialist and has been since November 23.
She managed to get her son into a mainstream school with additional support and there is talk of a EHCP depending on how he settles in school.
She had a call with our local council today, she's so worried as they have told her that all is taken into consideration but they could potentially move her anywhere, even though she works in Wandsworth borough (we live in Lambeth) which potentially means losing job if out of London.
She's also worried about change(s) of schools for her son, she's a single mum and doesn't have a lot of help.

Could anyone offer any advice or lived experiences and how they made things work
Hope I've posted on right page.

Unfortunately, the council is right, temporary accommodation may not be local.

Some councils offer a support scheme with renting privately. Your friend might want to look at that and check she is receiving any/all benefits she is eligible for.

BTW, she can request an EHCNA now. She doesn’t have to wait for the school to do it.

@perpetualplatespinning thanks. She has known about the section 21 for a few weeks before receiving, she's registered with estate agents but because she doesn't have a guarantor they won't help her, even though she has successfully been paying £1675 a month for the last 2 months.
The policy for remaining in the local area doesn't apply from reading, but it does state that she would be kept within a 90min journey time to school/work so she's taking from that, they could put her anywhere in London.
They reassured her that she wouldn't be expected to give up her job i.e moved to hull. However if she wasn't working, then yes, they would move her out of London.

She was told to wait until he started school, but I will let her know re echp. Thanks again

This is partly why I suggested she looks to see if her council ran a scheme to support private rental. Some areas have a scheme where a guarantor isn’t required.

@perpetualplatespinning from what she said, they said they will be looking at private rentals with her, but again could be anywhere in the country.
I think she's just going to go via temporary accomodation route and wait it out for social housing, she stated she couldn't go through this twice as her brother did.
