Organisational hacks for possibly AdHD 9 year old

So DD is 9 and going into Year 5 in September.

She's awaiting an assessment for either ADHD or autism, but we will be lucky if she gets seen before she goes into yr 6.

Her lack of independence and effort at home is starting to take its toll.

Her room is a constant mess, her idea of tidying is piling everything on her bed.

She does not bath/wash unattended as she would flood the bathroom.

Getting ready for school, most days are clothes are handed to her to get her to put them on.

She cannot/wont make her own breakfast.

I really want to sort her bedroom over the summer. She hardly plays in there or spend any time in there, it's crazy it gets into such a mess. But does anyone have any tips that has helped their child manage their rooms?

I don't expect it to be pristine all the time, but I do want to be able to get to her bed without trampling on loads of stuff!

Declutter the bedroom.

Think about what storage solutions work for DD. Some find putting things in drawers/cupboards etc. works for them because in minimises the visual input. Others find they need things on show because if they are hidden from their eye line, it is like they don’t exist.

Break down the task into smaller specific chunks. Instructions like tidy up are too broad for some DC.

Some find checklists help. Or photographs of when the room is tidy so DC know where things go.
